St. Nicklaus Day

Darren and I have been trying to come up with some new family traditions to try out.  One that we tried this year was St. Nicklaus Day.  I guess this is a popular one in certain European countries like Austria, where Darren served his mission.  The idea is that the kids put their boots/shoes out by the door and Santa or his helpers come by and put candy in them if you've been good.  That's a really simplified version of it . . . a couple versions I read included a scary creature and other things so we altered it to our goals.  Check out this explanation from Jimmy Fallon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbkGuCozc9M

The boys wrote their Christmas lists and stuck them in their boots by the back door . . .

And when they woke up, they found this  . . . new PJs and some candy.  I think this is a tradition we will continue to do :)
