Well, we did it. Noah's eye doctor mentioned eye surgery a couple of years ago to us but suggested trying some other methods before moving forward with surgery.
So we did the patching for a few months . . .
We wore glasses for a couple of years . . .
Unfortunately, it didn't help the exotropia in his right eye.
So, we decided to do surgery and Noah was an absolute trooper.
He was in good spirits during all the checking in at the hospital.
He was pretty darn excited to get to ride in the wheelchair!
Off he went to surgery while I went off to the parent waiting room . . .
It is always so hard as a parent to see your kids in pain and it makes it especially hard when you can't do anything to relieve the pain for them. This poor guy was crying so hard he couldn't get a breath when they finally got to bring me back to him.
I got him calmed down and after a little nap, he started doing better and drank through 2 cups of apple juice . . . this kid is always thirsty.
We finally got clearance to leave the hospital!
Sleeping off the effects of the anesthesia at home (after projectile vomiting all over the carpet 😝)
He was up and at it the next morning, ready to play. Kids are so resilient. A week later he was cleared to resume all activities and his eye is healing ahead of schedule! Hooray for eye surgery!
