Darren's Prognosis

So Marni and I met with the doctors today at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and learned that I do indeed have a form of cancer. When they finished the biopsy last week, they initially thought it was the worst form of cancer I could have, Ewing Sarcoma. After doing what they do, they determined that rather than having the worsr type of cacner, I actually have the best type I could have. It is called B Cell Lymphoma. All the doctors were in agreement that this was great news compared to their initial assessments.

Here are the few things we know, as the doctor I was seeing is not a specialist in Lymphoma.

I will need to get Chemotherapy to remove the cancer. I will not need surgery to fix any of the cancer. The Chemotherapy will, as they said, "melt" away the cancer.

After I go through Chemo, I will probably have to have surgery on my fractured bone. We go back in for a MRI in 3 months.

Any other details about the cancer, treatments and everything else, we just don't know yet. We should be able to schedule an appt. tomorrow hopefully for later this week. There we should be able to get most of our questions answered.

Marni and I feel very fortunate to have received the news that we did. We had spent time planning for the worst and it definitely feels good to have better news. We know this will be a bumpy road, but it will be worth the fight.

We very much appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and fasting in our behalf. We feel richly blessed to have received the results we did and know the Lord has watched over us personally the last few weeks and will continue to do so in the coming weeks and months.

Dear Marni and Darren:
What can I say except my prayers and thoughts and love are with you both. I'm so glad it wasn't the really bad kind of cancer. Your faith is inspiring to me and I know that Heavenly Father is mindful of you and will watch over you both.
Love you!
Debi

Darren, I've been thinking about you all morning long and I think you need some of my homemade cookies or something yummy! They always seem to make things better. LOL

I'm so, so sorry. Thank goodness they caught it early and they're hopeful to be able to remove it! Let me know if there's anything you need. Maybe we could plan a big family fast?...

Thanks for the update. You guys are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

Hmmm, I can't really send over meals or help clean the house from my neck of the woods... how about a magazine subscription for all those boring hours that will be spent in waiting rooms and such?

Darren and Marni,

Darren, I am amazed by the size of that bicep! Maybe you should try both arms, next time? =)

I am shocked at this news; Rachel and I will be praying for you. You are a great man and I know you will be able to have a good experience with this craziness.

All the Best,
Mike
