Richards Family Reunion 2012
It was a fun filled few days at my parents cabin for our family reunion. Our whole family came in to town for the festivities! So, there were 20 of us invading the wilds off of Mirror Lake highway for a few crazy days.
You can tell by the smile on Caleb's face that he had a great time!!
My mom was ambitious and sewed all 10 kids new PJ bottoms to celebrate the 4th of July holiday :)
My mom also kept the kids happy with many activities - one being the chance to decorate a hula hoop. Caleb was a little young for this one - so mom and dad did the decorating . . . it might have turned out better had we let Caleb do it!
No fires were allowed so Caleb had to eat the marshmallow's in their natural form . . . I don't think he was too disappointed.
Caleb sort of latched on to his Uncle Matt and was hanging all over him. Then Matt pretended to cut off his thumb with the scissors and Caleb was entranced!
We decorated the hula hoops, had water balloon tosses, played water balloon volleyball, and each kid got to decorate a visor. Good times with the fam.
We spent some time down at the river throwing rocks and wading across the river. Caleb had no qualms about the freezing temperature of the water!
My dad recently went to Africa and brought back all the grandkids a cool wooden animal. Caleb got a very pointy rhino - that will be going on the high shelf far away from Caleb's long arms :)
We also went fishing . . . well, Caleb didn't really fish much, but he did hang out on a log with various cousins. He and Cody bonded over their bottles of Gatorade.

Helping Grandpa reel in the fish - unfortunately the fish got loose before we could grab it.
Caleb had a hard time sharing Grandpa - he's used to being the only grandkid around. Thankfully, Grandpa was extremely patient with Caleb and all his grandkids!!
While we were at the cabin, it was my nephew's birthday. So we did a piƱata! Yes, that is a look of fear on my face.
Once all the candy was knocked out, Caleb looked at me with this face and said "gum?" How could I say no to that. So, yes, Caleb had his first bit of gum . . . hopefully he'll forget about it for a while now . . .
Then we had Caleb's favorite - cupcakes!!
The last thing we did for the family reunion was go to a ranch and have a BBQ, hay ride and a chance for the kids to ride a horse!! Caleb LOVED the horses. He just wanted to pet them and touch their noses.
Riding with Shea . . . lasted for 30 seconds - he wanted to do it on his own!!
Thanks Mom and Dad for a great time!
