We are officially 5 full weeks into this whole COVID 19 pandemic.
The boys last day actually at school was May 13, 2020.
Darren started working from home on that same day.
We can count the number of people that have been in our house since then on one hand.
Here's where some of the numbers are as of today.
School was officially closed for the remainder of the school year on April 14th.
Overall, the boys have handled this as well as expected. Caleb seems pretty content while Noah struggles with the lack of interacting with others. He breaks down in tears every once in a while just wishing he could be with his friends. We go on lots of walks and have picked up baking like the rest of the country. We've made bread - my first time doing real yeast bread!
White chocolate chip muffins . . .
Spinach oatmeal chocolate muffins . . .
Not photographed - chocolate chip pumpkin bread, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, cakes, cupcakes, rice krispy treats . . . etc. People aren't joking about the "Quarantine 15"!
We've done a few fun things for home science - the only one worth documenting was homemade rock candy suckers! They actually turned out ok!
It is strange to not go to church, to not go to the gym, to not go into the grocery store, to not get closer than 6 feet to anybody other than my immediate family. But we have it better than most - we have enough food, enough of the hygiene items (toilet paper is almost impossible to get your hands on), a big back yard for the boys to play, the technology that allows them to be home schooled, and so many other things that make this time of craziness more comfortable.
For the first time since this started, we had dinner with other people last night! We drove to my parents house, sat out back on their patio, at different ends of the table and ate take out. It felt silly to sit so far away from them, but we are totally willing to do it in hopes that our efforts will help this virus go way sooner.
